About Us

The mission of America Multi-Sport, Inc. is to provide communities and individuals with extraordinary health & wellness events and services focused on Christian practices providing opportunities to improve spirit, mind and body through “Life Changing Finish Lines.”


Since 1993, our co-founders have been organizing the multi-sport world of racing, hosting events and motivating individuals from their first 5k to iron distance triathlons.  In 2010 they founded America Multi-Sport, Inc. to continue welcoming all to their best finish line.

Tammy M. Tomboni: Founder/Fin. Dir., America Multi-Sport, Inc.

A mother of 3 young boys, she manages all race day registration operations and packet pickup processes. She is a triathlete, marathoner and former Executive Assistant with Jarden Corp managing sales and national  conventions. She was the Volunteer Director for the 2001 Muncie Endurathon with 2,200 volunteers and the Volunteer USA Triathlon Long-Course National Championships in 2002 with over 1,200 volunteers. She was the Finish line director for the 2003 Muncie Endurathon.

Steven N. Tomboni: Founder/CEO America Multi-Sport, Inc.

As an event organizer: Now enter the beginning of the 3rd decade organizing over 975 events, youth and adult sports leagues, tournaments, programs and host of road races with ground breaking “Life Changing Finish Lines’.tm

As an athlete: Finishing  more than 300 triathlon/multi-sport and road races since 1983 including Ironman Florida in 2002 and the 1stPowerman Alabama in 1996, The Chicago, Indianapolis and Columbus marathons as well.

His resume includes currently 111 Sprint/Olympic/Half triathlons as race director and also the Race Director of the 1996 ITU/Muncie Long Course World Championship & 2002/2003 USAT Long Course National Championships. He was the 5 time race director of the Muncie Endurathon.  In 2010 him and his wife; triathlete Tammy, founded America Multi-Sport, Inc. to continue that success.  During the last 6 year they have produced the MidEast Collegiate Regional Championships 4 times, 2 Powerman Muncie Duathlons, the June 7, 2014 Muncie triathlon is part of the 2014/2015 Retro USAT Series and we are proudly owners of America’s Half Iron Triathlon/Duathlon/Aquabike. America Multi-Sport in 2015 will produce 11 Multi-Sport including the Mid-East Regional Tri/Du/AQB Championships and 12 Road race events and clinics along with operation of the local 50-meter outdoor aquatics facility in Muncie, Indiana. America Multi-Sport is also a proud member of Triathlon Business International and US Track & Field. 

Steven is the former CEO of the Putman County YMCA in Ottawa, Ohio and the former Executive Director of the Muncie Family YMCA where he managed nearly 500 youth/adult or corporate sporting events over 10 years.

Also, the author of the 1996 ITU Long Course technical manual, he is a Level  I USA Triathlon Certified Race Director. The 1996 World’s was voted the international race of the year and the 2002 Nationals was awarded the national race of the year. The 1996 World’s was the 1st chipped times triathlon in the world. The event featured 1300 athletes from 36 countries, 6,600 volunteers, 57 volunteer race captains, 70 mile of course over 3 Indiana Counties and 40,000 spectators. Additionally, 4,400 youth from 44 East Central Indiana Schools lined the course during the adopt a country project. He received the Edmund F. Ball Award in 2003 for lifetime service to the Muncie Endurathon, Inc.

The company was awarded the prestigious EDGE Award by the State of Indiana as the outstanding emerging business in East Central Indiana, 2011.

And now a member of the USA Triathlon Race Director Century Club.

Steve is a father of four and a Ball State University graduate.

Luke Bivens :: Race Director

Here are some fun facts that you might not know! Luke grew up with a cross country running background that started in middle school. He began racing in America Multi-sport events in 2013 and immediately became a regular fixture on race day. It wasn’t long before he became very instrumental as a volunteer with AMS pouring blood, sweat and tears into the events behind the scene in addition to competing. Luke started as our full time Race Director in September 2016. He has a wife, Courtney, and 3 wonderful children that are also a common sight. He is still very active running in road races and on trails any chance he gets, ranging from a 5k to a 50k. His next big goal is finish a 50 mile trail run in 2017. BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE! He is a triathlete too! While there are several sprint and olympic distance races under his belt, Luke has conquered the 70.3 several times and has 140.6 in the cross hairs. With the experience from over 100 finishes in the last 4 and a half years, be assured that your race director speaks the language of the athletes and aims to deliver quality on race day!

B. Joseph Davis :: Counsel

Attorney B. Joseph Davis serves several integral functions.  As General Counsel he oversees and manages all legal matters.  Notwithstanding his title, his advocacy and acumen contributes to many other non-legal business decisions.  As a triathlete he knows race courses and due to his lifeguarding background he understands what it takes to ensure a safe swim course.  He can normally be found driving the EAP boat which carries, at a minimum, the head life-guard and a rescue diver.  After the swim course closes he can normally be found assisting with other critical functions.  He lives at mile one (1) on the Prairie Creek Race Course with his wife and three children whom can often be found at that aid station assisting athletes, spraying water, and providing background music.

Nick Nordmann :: Assistant Race Director

Nick began as the Operations Intern in the summer of 2015. He now works part-time as the Assistant Race Director while completing his Master’s degree at Ball State University in Sports Administration. Nick graduated from Ball State with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science in 2016. He has been a runner since the elementary school cross country team and has continued his running experience with the Ball State Runners’ Association and NIRCA. Since beginning college, Nick has competed in races from the 5k to the 50k. His running goals include running in the Boston Marathon in 2018, joining the 50 state marathon club, and completing the 6 Marathon Majors. On race day, Nick can be found underneath a cowboy hat if he is working or with war paint on if he is racing.

Jake Deiwert :: Web Admin | Lead Timer

Jake started as an intern with AMS in 2013, helping mainly with graphics and photography before coming on full time in 2014 as Marketing Coordinator. in 2015 Jake also became the lead timer and coordinator of the AMS website.

Jake graduated in 2011 from Indiana Wesleyan University with a B.S. in  Photography. For athletics, he enjoys tennis, soccer, ping pong, and ultimate frisbee.

Jamie Moynihan :: Intern

Jamie Moynihan is a Ball State University Senior, Majoring in Journalism Graphics. She was a competitive swimmer for 8 years and has been a lifeguard for 7 years. She spends her summers volunteering at Triathlons and other race events.

Gary Schliessman :: Finish Line Hospitality

Gary helps create the finish line atmosphere. From set up to congratulating every athlete and handing them a finisher medal.
